An Ojai Tradition - since 1874
Before Ojai was Ojai, and before the arcade was "the Arcade" in fact, way back in the 1874 when a single dirt road ran through a beautiful valley; Rains was born. That same year Ojai's (or Nordhoff as it was known then), first hotel opened. Propinquity - No other word for it. The hotel opened up Ojai, and Rains opened up to supply those that stayed. It did better than that; much better! To cater to the needs of a few visitors and even fewer locals in 1874 was one thing. To do the same for 130 years as both the town and its reputation as a "must place to visit" grew is something else entirely.
